West River Grasshopper Numbers High

Rangeland survey indicate high probability for above normal populations.

South Dakota State University experts say that there's a high probablility for above normal grasshopper populations in western South Dakota.

Surveyers found eight or more grasshopper per square yard throughout western South Dakota last fall.

Warm, dry weather after the grasshopper hatch this spring will likely lead to high populations during the year. Wet, cool weather will reduce populations.
